History of production | Jayaviravarman who dethroned the successor of Jayavarman’s dynasty, ascent to the throne of Angkor. His reign however was very short and he disappeared from the history after the ascent of King Suravarman I. Although there is not the name of the patron mentioned in the inscription Prasat Takeo is however presumed to be assignable to King Jayaviravarman who would construct this temple in according to the Devarāja cult. Possibly, this temple was left unfinished because the king was dethroned by Suryavarman I. |

Art | This is one of the five towers of Prasat Takeo. It is the first time that the whole temple is made of stone and the doors at the cardinal points are the enterable ones. The connected surrounding gallery is also introduced in the first time here. However, the temple is lack of decoration as the temple is left unfinished. |
