The traits of the Artwork The Buddha Image of late Lan Xang Period. The influences of Sukhothai and Lanna Arts in Buddhist Arts seem to fade out and the Buddha Image seems to display the local style of Lan Xang more. Sukhothai’s flame-shaped aureole is still visible but the hair is smaller and sharper with the hairline. The eyes is narrower like the native style, the nose is bigger than the Sukhothai style.

In Basilica of Quiapo, there is the most respected statue of Jesus Christ in Manila, the Philippines - Black Nazarene. It is said that this sculpture was brought from Mexico, one of Spain’s colony. It is made of dark wood which is believed to promote holiness of Black Nazarene.
SculptureOur Lady of MountCarmel
Mount Carmel is a coastal mountain range in northern Palestine. It was the residence of Aliyah before it was later built as a place to pray to Maria which led to the origin of Carmelites. In 1251, Maria went to meet Saint Simon Stock, the abbot of Carmelites, when he stayed in Aylesford, England. She gave him the Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel which was a Christian garment and promised him that who wore this scapular would survive the fire.

The statue of the dead Jesus is the main image meant for the ceremony of the Good Friday and the mourning before the resurrection of the Christ in Easter. The effigy must be able to be crucified and must be able to recline in the coffin. The coffin is normally decorated with the lamb symbolizing that Jesus is the sacrificial lamb of god who took away the sin of the world. The victorious flag in the hand of the lamb symbolizes the resurrection of the Christ.
