Key academic information

King Rama 5 ordered the construction of this bell-shaped Chedi with laterite at Philo waterfall Chanthaburi, his favorite place, to serve as a memorial for his royal visit to the place. It also allows people to see the waterfall more clearly when worshiping the Chedi as this was the spot he stationed when paying the visit and he thought it had the most beautiful view. He chose laterite as he thought it was a strong material and was abundant in Chanthaburi. Building a Chedi close to a waterfall was a continuing royal will from King Rama 4 who also ordered the construction of a Chedi at Klong Narai waterfall Vhanthaburi, a place where he paid a visit.
