History of productionThe construction of many Buddha images in Pindava cave is a merit-making action of Tai Yai people. Each person built a lot of images in the cave, so each image is different in size and age.
ArtBuddha images in Pindava cave are tge finest example of the Buddha images in this school of art. They usually have large heads, small body and narrow shoulder. There is a gourd on top of the head following the Chinese style of art. The robe is highly made having two layers of robes similar to those in Angwa-Amarapura. The righ shoulder is also covered with the robe following the Chinese influence.

Religion and beliefThe hands of this image do not depict the commonly-used subduing Mara attitue. Instead, they hold “Samor”,which is a holding of Chaipatchayakuru. This shows the concept of Chaipatchayakuru is blended with the concept of Srisakkayamuni in Thi Yai, showing the combination of Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism
