Art | This Avalokiteshvara wears costumes and has a halo that gravitate towards Eastern java art. The back is also decorated with lotus and lotus leaf, which is an important feature of this period. Besides, having attendants at the back of the sculpture is a common arrangement in this period. |

Religion and belief | Multi-handed Avalokiteshvara with one hand holding a lasso is called “Amokabada Or Amoghapasa” which is a common attitude in Java art. The four attendants including Syamtara, Suthonkumara, Haiyakri and Brikuti had previously been used in Pala art. At the bottom of the sculpture, there are seven jewels of a king. This shows that Avalokiteshvara is also a king. |
