Art | Small bronze sculpture in Central Java might have been personal belongings of monks. The style is very similar to Pala art in terms of costumes, iconography and the back of the throne. The back of the throne of this bronze sculpture is very simialr to that of Pala art especially the round back and the occasional decoration of flame and the umbrealla. |

Religion and belief | Cunda is a female Bodhisttavara in Mahayan Buddhism. She became a queen from the great mercy of Avalokitesavara. Therefore, she is associalted with meditation and normally portrayed as Tayanamudha in the front hands. |
Related artwork | In Central Java art, All Cunda sculptures sit in meditatiin posture and both hands are placed together on the laps. This is similar to Tayanamudha,which is a special mudra for this Bodhisttavara. |
