History of production

Abeyadana Pagoda was built by King Kyanzittha's queen Abeyadana in 17th Buddhist Century. Inside appears painting, which is similar to Pala art and it’s likely to go to Mahayana Buddhism.

In Pala art, one of the most popular motifs in sculpture is Buddha’s image, Bodhisattva or other gods in the cave show their alone asceticism. In addition, there may also be people who come to listen to his preach in the cave. These images were brought to the surface below “Soomcharanum”(an arched shelter used as a decorator attached beside a stupa or pagoda) of Abeyadana Pagoda.
