History of production

This chedi was built by King Yotchiangrai to contain the ashes of King Tilokarat in 1491.

Art

This chedi is a single pointed top castle shaped chedi with two type of base, flat bases and upturned lotus base supporting the ruenthat. It has arches on all four sides, pillas with decorative pattern, roof set, another flat bases and upturned lotus base supporting the bell, throne, cylinders, spire and the top.

The pattern that decorate the chedi is a vine Lanna style and has an extremely curved pattern which was popular during the 21st Buddhist Century era, consistent with the history of the building during that period.

2. Chedi Chang Lom of Wat Chiang Man, Chiang Mai province is another single pointed top castle shaped chedi but there is an additional surrounding elephant base at the bottom.
