History of production

Not making history, originally it was at the Wat Phra That Hariphunchai. Later, it was brought to housed at Wat Benchamabophit. From the form, the age can be determined in the Buddhist 21st century.

This Buddha image sits in a full-lotus seat on a lotus base in the octagon plan which is cast sticked to the Buddha image displaying the Subduing Mara posture. It has a round face, big knotted hair, high ushnisha with lotus shape on top, look-straight eyes, slightly open mouth, knot jaw, not too fat body, oblique robe and short split ends centipede fang shaped sanghati.

From the inscription at the base of the Buddha image at Wat Phrachao Mangrai, Chiang Mai province which has the same style, there is a name indicating this Buddha image that "Phra Buddha Sihing" makes it possible to assume that the Singh Neung type Buddha image for Lanna people should refer to the Phra Buddha Sihing.

The Subduing Mara Buddha image of the Wat Phrachao Mangrai, Chiang Mai province is an important example of a Singh Neung type Buddha image that has an inscription specifying the name "Phra Buddha Sihing", the name of the maker and the year of making. It can be used as an example to determine the age of Buddha images in the same era, but has no inscription.

2. The Phra Mangraichao at Wat Chai Phrakiat, Chiang Mai province is an example of a Singh Neung type Buddha image in the later era which although inherited from the previous era, but the craftsmanship is not as fine.
