Key academic information

According to the history, Phraya Srisamutchotpichaisongkram (Ket Yomjinda), the then governor of Rayoong, went to Bangkok on duty and passed by the Chaophraya River estuary at Samut Prakarn. There, he had a chance to worship Phra Samut Chedi, the sacred Chedi for passerby. The Chedi was located in the middle of water. He then built a replica of Phra Samut Chedi at Rayong to serve as a symbol for sailers who arrived at Rayong. Phra Chedi Klang Nam is a bell-shaped Chedi in the middle of water. One side of the Chedi is close to Rayong river and the other is close to a mangrove forest.
