History of production | Sangkhalok was massively manufactured at Sukhothai and Si Satchanalai. It was continuously manufactured for over a hundred year throughout Sukhothai period carried on to Ayutthaya period. It is presumed that Sangkhalok stopped manufacturing in the end of King Naresuan reign. For Sangkhalok that is used as decoration, there are some artwork features that are comparative to the artwork during the 20th-21st Buddhist century, therefore it is believed that the wares were manufactured during the same period. |

Key academic information | Sangkhalok is Sukhothai stonewares. Besides using Sangkhalok as a ware, it is used for decorating the architectures as well. It helps us indicate the construction of the roof-covered buildings such as Vihara and Ubosot which are now already damaged and fallen down, left only the ruins today. |
