Key academic information | Phra Puttha Jamphunut Mahaburut Lakkana Asitayanubopitr is the principal Buddha image in the vihara of Wat Arun Ratchawararam. It was built in Buddha image style of the reign of King Rama III. The King had it built at the same time as Phra Phuttha Tri Lokkachet, the principal Buddha image in a chapel of Wat Suthat Thepwararam. The main characteristic of the principal Buddha images during the reign of King Rama III is a large Buddha image, casted with precious metals such as copper and bronze. The image is enshrined on a large Chukchi base. Majority of the Buddha images are similar because they were built based on the King’s order. This becomes the character of Buddha images in this reign. Buddha images of the succeeding reigns are smaller. |
