Built in the reign of King Rama IV.

Art

Some of the places where Bodhi trees enshrined have base around. There is a singha base in the square diagram. The wall is made of Chinese glazed tile and the stairs would have only one or four sides. There are some buildings that surround the Bodhi Tree, called the Bodhikhara, such as Wat Pathum Wanaram And Wat Bowonniwet Vihara, the Bodhikhara has square diagram. It has wall on ridges of the roof and leave the center area to allow the Bodhi Tree to grow.

Key academic information

The temple area of some important temples that King Rama IV orders to build have been planted Bodhi Tree in the center of the diagram.This is another important element that was not popular in the Rattanakosin period. Temples that have Bodhi Tree been important point of diagram in temple area include Wat Pathum Wanaram,Wat Phra Samut Chedi. These Bodhi Trees are often surrounded by buildings called the “Bodhikhara”, which is likely to be derived from Lanka.

The importance of the Bodhi tree in the reign of King Rama IV is attributed to the fact that the Bodhi Tree is a significant tree according to the biography of Lord Buddha, especially in enlighten and another important reason is to receive the Bodhi tree from Lanka in the reign of King Rama II. Later, in the reign of King Rama IV has sent the monk ambassadortors to Lanka and they took Bodhi trees back to plant. In the end of King Rama IV reign, the Sri Mahabodhi from Bodh Gaya was brought by the British. It has been breeding and conferred to many other important monasteries. Wat Bowonniwet Vihara, Wat Phra Pathom Chedi.
