History of productionOriginally, this cathedral was named Convent of Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ). It was the convent for nuns in Catholic and it had been in use for 130 years. It was built in 1840. Then it was abandoned and turned into restaurants, theatre and department stores.
ArtChiimes was built under Gothic art or the architecture that tried to restore Gothic art, which can be commonly found in colonial countries. In Singapore, the same architectural style is found at Saint Andrew cathedral as well. The cathedral consists of a tower with a funnel-shaped roof at the front. At the back, there is a cathedral building in the rectangular plan. Each window is divided into two smaller windows. These windows are stretched and decorated with mosaic. All of these show a clear Gothic influence.
