Religion and belief | Assumption is the term denoting the ascension to the heaven of St Mary. She was, according to the Catholic’s belief, the virgin who became the mother of Jesus Christ. She was immaculate from the original sin and she deserves the heaven both physically and spiritually. She was, according to the Catholic, also anointed as the Queen of the Heaven. Assumption of the Virgin, however, is not mentioned in Bible. |
Related artwork | In art, assumption is normally portrayed as the virgin, surrounded by angles, flies in the cloud. Sometime, it is depicted as the Virgin whose halo is decorated with 12 stars as mentioned in the book of Revelation. |
