History of productionPrasat Banteay Srei was constructed by the brahmin and courtier named Yajnavaraha during the reign of Jayavarman V to dedicate to Lord Shiva and 2 other Devis.
ArtThe triangular Pediment is straighten up vertically. Above it, is an arch in a wavy pattern. The beautiful wavy style on the arch is systematic. The the both ends of the arch are the multi-headed nagas as in the pattern of architecture of the late Angkor Period. The center of the Pediment is the image of Kāmadeva shoots an arrow at God Shiva.

Religion and beliefWhen God Shiva is entering asceticism at Mount Kailash, Goddess Sati has reincarnated as Umadevi. God Brahman then send Kamadeva to shoot Shiva with his bow and arrow that has the power to make people fall in love with the first thing they open their eyes to see. Kamadeva asks Umadevi to dance in front of Shiva, so when he gets shot and open his eyes, she will be the first thing he sees. Hoever, God Shiva actually has the third eye between his eyebrow that has the power to destroy the thing in its sight. When Shiva open all his eyes after Kamadeva hits him with the arrow, he, himself is destroyed as he is in the third eye sight.
