Religion and belief | Kalpavriksha or Kalpataru, literally the tree of the aeon, is the wish-fulfilling tree in the mythical realm, for instance, the real of Uttarakuru or the future aeon of Maitreya. This tree would fulfill all desires, including the giving of jewels or clothes to the one who need. None would suffer from the work but gather at the tree to get the gifts. In the narrative, the kalpataru is portrayed as a tree with the pots of jewels at the root. Kinnaras and flying Vidhyadharas gather at the tree to get the gifts. |
Related artwork | The body of Candi Pawon is dividable into three parts and the central one depicts the wish-fulfilling tree, the symbol of abundance and wealthiness. Kinnaras and flying Vidhyadharas gather at the tree are also parts of the auspicious symbols for blessing devotees with abundance and wealthiness. |
