Religion and beliefTuraka conquered a buffalo beast called Mahishasuramardani. It is the disguise showing that she is superior to ignorance, which is represented by a buffalo. The buffalo was granted the wish from Bhraman that it could not be defeated or killed by the male gods. All of the male gods had to extract their power to destroy this buffalo. All of the power became Turaka.
Related artworkTuraka is dancing above a buffalo beast. There are two other people playing music for her. It should be noted that the gentle move of this Mahishasuramardani is different from the ferocious expression of the same scene in India.
