History of productionSultan Abu Bakar Masjid was established by Sultan Ibrahim, Sultan of Johor in 1900 for the glory of his father. The mosque is located at Johor strait, the border between Malaysia and Singapore.
ArtThe mosque shows the influence of the Victorian British architecture. All three entrances have a tower that duplicates the British-styled clock tower. The façade shows the elements of Classic style decoration without any Indian or Moorish influence. These elements make this mosque different from other mosques during colonial era.
