History of production | Koo Kongsi Shrine was the clan house of the Koos which migrated from Fujian prefecture in China. After being one of the wealthy merchant families in the Melaka Strait, the family had this clan house to be constructed in 1854. However, the house was destroyed by the lighting fire in 1894. Because the Chinese belief, the house of ordinary people should not be as grand as the palace of the emperor, the new house, the one survive nowadays, was reconstructed and was reduced in size in 1902. |
